Answer

What happens if my WACE English ATAR does not meet Curtin's English requirement?

All applicants are required to meet the English competency requirement for Curtin University.

To meet the English competency requirement, WA School Leavers require to obtain a scaled mark of at least 50 in one of the following WACE courses: English ATAR; Literature ATAR or English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) ATAR .

If you have not met this requirement, Curtin will concede competence in English to you if you meet the requirement stated in the stated in the “Admission Requirements for School leavers” brochure on the TISC website: http://www.tisc.edu.au/static/guide/admission-req-sleaver.tisc Please note this is an automatic process and you will be notified in your Universities Admission Advice Letter (UAAL) if your English competence has been conceded by Curtin University. Check TISC website for date when UAAL is available on TISC website.

If you do not achieve a sufficient scaled mark in English ATAR, Literature ATAR or EALD ATAR, you may demonstrate your competence in English by sitting the Written English component of the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). Invitation to book the test will be stated in your UAAL. Further information on the STAT can be found at the TISC website.

Depending on your circumstances, there may be another English competency test that you may undertake to meet the English requirements. For further information, please refer to our website: https://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au/english-proficiency/english-proficiency-tests/
